The Center of Perpetual Relief (CPR) is an orphanage located in Jérémie, Haiti. Founded on June 15, 2005, CPR supports orphan children ages as young as 6 months, to 18 years old. The caregivers of the orphanage are Mrs. Eliane Monsignac and Mrs. Betty Maturin. The orphanage began with 50 orphans, however due to a lack of adequate support and resources; the orphanage has reduced to nearly half at 28 children; 8 girls and 20 boys.
Currently, the orphanage has medical resources provided by the Haitian Health Foundation (HHF). However, CPR currently suffers from a lack of sufficient nutritional foods and clean water for the residing orphans. Currently, CPR provides basic food needs which include rice, corn meal, beans, pasta, sardines and condensed milk which are replenished monthly. CPR also provides orphans with basic toiletry needs; tooth paste, soap, deodorant, detergent, etc., that must also be replenished monthly.
The goal of #CPRProjectBIG is to provide a food pantry to CPR that is replenished monthly. The pantry includes nutritious foods, vitamins, clean water and basic toiletry needs to the existing 28 orphans. In addition, #CPRProjectBIG aspires to allocate enough resources to allow CPR to grow back to its full potential of 50 orphans. TBL will rely on its community partners, social campaigns and independent sponsors to achieve this goal.
In addition to the food pantry, TBL will also provide weekly health training's to CPR faculty and orphans respectively through TBL team members on the ground. The health specialist for #CPRProjectBIG will be Phanes Paul. Phanes is a nurse who has facilitated training's during the ongoing cholera crisis and is currently working on the Hurricane Matthew relief efforts. Weekly health workshops encourage participating orphans and CPR staff to practice healthy eating habits and sanitation practices that will promote healthier lifestyles.
#ProjectBIG aims to get 555 committed sponsors at $0.33 daily or $10 USD monthly to provide the adequate resources for the orphanage respectively. During the 2017 year, #TBL seeks to achieve the following goals:
1. Raise $60,000 annually to provide adequate nutritional resources to CPR
2. Increase attendance of the orphans within CPR by at least 50 percent each year
3. Provide $300 in monthly stipends to, ESL services and the transportation of CPR resources
